About this house
Arcana Mentis is a house for people who want to understand their own minds without being sold a miracle.
If you are the sort of woman who sits with a cup after supper and wonders how the evening got so quiet, this house was built with you in mind. You might be near seventy. The children may be gone. You may be widowed, or simply alone in a way the afternoon did not prepare you for. You want warmth, not fuss. You want clarity, not a quiz. You want to be spoken to as a grown woman with a mind of her own. That is the reader we picture first, and we try not to forget her when a sentence starts to show off.
You might be younger, and you are just as welcome. Maybe you have moved to a new city and the streets do not know your name yet. Maybe your nights disappear into a screen that feels like company and is not. Maybe you are thinking hard about your care — a medicine, a clinician, a path you are not sure of — and you want education that will not grab the decision out of your hands.
The house has nine rooms: mind control, brain optimization, getting your life back, spirituality and religion, manifestation, hypnosis, meditation, depression, and loneliness. Each room is a long essay you can read on its own. Under those titles you will find circumstances a person can recognize — widowhood, an empty nest, a new city, nights spent scrolling — not because we think one life fits everyone, but because a general speech about “the reader” helps almost no one.
A word about how we write. The long essays use an older, more poetic English. We like that voice for a piece you sit down with. Everything else — the labels, the answers, the shop, this page — stays in ordinary warm English, the kind you might use with a friend who does not want to be impressed. If a warning matters, we say it in that plain voice. Poetry is not allowed to hide the rule.
The rules are few, and they are not decorations.
Mind control here means your own mind only. We do not teach you how to manipulate, persuade, or hypnotize another person. Self-hypnosis, if you meet it, is one practice inside the hypnosis room, done by you, to you. Manifestation means aiming your attention and your actions at a chosen end. It is not a supernatural law and not a way to make money appear. Meditation is a practice of attention, not a cure. None of this is therapy.
We are not a clinic. We do not diagnose you. We do not promise a cure, an income, or a result from beyond the ordinary world. If you take a prescribed antidepressant, or any other prescribed medicine, do not stop it because of something you read on this site. Talk with your clinician about any change in care. Feeling hopeful after an essay is not a medical plan. Feeling worse is a reason to seek help, not a reason to handle it alone.
If you are in crisis in the United States, call or text 988, or go to 988lifeline.org. You do not have to decide whether you are “unwell enough” before you call. The depression and loneliness rooms say this again, on purpose. Those two rooms have not yet had a medical review. Please do not treat them as if they had.
Nothing is for sale today. A shop page exists so you can see the door, and the door is closed. Guides may come later. Advertisements and analytics are not installed. When that ever changes, the privacy page will name the change before it happens, not after.
This site stands on its own. The address is arcanamentis.com — https://www.arcanamentis.com. It is not part of any other project, and it does not send you off to one. Come in as you are. You do not need to be cheerful to begin.
