Frequently asked questions

Plain answers, in ordinary words. The long essays may use an older voice. This page does not.

Is this therapy?

No. Arcana Mentis is educational writing about the care of your own mind. It is not a clinic, not counseling, and not a substitute for a qualified professional. If you need care, please take it to a clinician or another qualified professional.

Do you teach mind control of other people?

No. “Mind control” here means mastery of your own mind only — your attention, your habits, and your inner speech. We do not teach you how to manipulate, persuade, or steer another person.

Should I stop my antidepressant if I feel better reading this?

No. Never stop a prescribed antidepressant — or any prescribed medicine — because of something you read here. Talk with your clinician about any change in care. If you are in crisis in the United States, call or text 988.

Is anything for sale yet?

Not yet. A product list is planned in writing, but the shop door is closed. You can read every room without buying anything.

What is Arcana Mentis?

Arcana Mentis is this house: educational writing on the care and government of your own mind. It is not a clinic. The address is arcanamentis.com, and the site stands on its own.

Who is this written for?

First, for a woman around seventy who wants warmth, clarity, and dignity — perhaps in widowhood, an empty nest, or a house that has grown quiet. Younger women are welcome too, including women who want company while they learn, and women who are questioning a medication path and do not want a website to make that decision for them. The house is for many circumstances, not one generic reader.

Are the depression and loneliness pages medical advice?

No. They are educational, and they sit beside care. They have not had a medical review, so please do not treat them as if they had. Never stop a prescribed medicine without a clinician. If you are in crisis in the United States, call or text 988.

Do you teach hypnosis of other people?

No. This house teaches self-directed practice only. Self-hypnosis is one practice inside the hypnosis room, done by you, to you. We do not teach you how to hypnotize someone else.

Is there a newsletter, and how do I contact you?

There is no newsletter, and no public inbox yet. The contact page says the same thing, and the form there does not collect anything. Please do not send a medical emergency to a page that cannot answer. If you are in crisis in the United States, call or text 988.
